de:_ Katharina Zimmerhackls künstlerische Praxis bewegt sich zwischen Klangkunst, Ins- tallation, Performance und Grafik/Zeichnung. Der Fokus liegt auf der geschichtlichen Produktion und der politischen Tragweite verschiedener Wissensformen und -sprachen. In ihrer Arbeit überführt sie das recherchierte Material durch Reinszenierung und Fragmentierung in Skripte, Notationen oder Partituren, die Körper und Stimme in den Fokus rücken. Ihre Arbeit ist in der Regel Recherche-basiert und materialisiert sich in verschiedenen Varianten. Neben ihrer künstlerischen Praxis ist sie in verschiedenen kulturpolitischen Zusammenhängen wie dem Zeitschriftenprojekt outside the box – Zeitschrift für feministische Gesellschaftskritik und dem D21-Kunstraum Leipzig aktiv. Die theoretischen und kulturpolitischen Auseinandersetzungen und ihre künstlerische Praxis gehen dabei fließend ineinander über. Sie hat an der Hochschule für Grafik und Buchkunst Leipzig sowie der Academy of Fine Arts Helsinki Medienkunst, Druckgrafik und Grafik-Design studiert und war 2014/15 als Artistic Researcher an der Van Eyck Academie in Maastricht.
en:_ Katharina Zimmerhackl’s artistic practice moves between sound art, installation, performance and drawing. The focus is on the exploration of different forms of knowledge, their historical production, and their political implications. In her work she transfers the researched material through restaging and fragmentation into scripts, notations or scores that focus on body and voice. Her work is usually research-based and usually materializes in different variations. In addition to her artistic practice, she is active in various cultural and political contexts such as The magazine project outside the box – Zeitschrift für feministische Gesellschaftskritik and the D21-Kunstraum Leipzig. The theoretical, sociocultural, and practical aspects of her work are strongly connected. She studied media art, printmaking and graphic design at the Hochschule für Grafik und Buchkunst Leipzig and the Academy of Fine Arts Helsinki and was an artistic researcher at the Van Eyck Academie in Maastricht in 2014/15.

en:_ The typographic score Sleep is the lover I fear arranges quotations from Freud‘s interpretation of dreams with fragments of feminist science fiction novels that revolve around becoming a subject as a process of merging and separating from and with others. The result is an onomatopoeic linguistic landscape that negotiates thoughts on physicality, dreams and desire.

de:_ Die Arbeit reflektiert das historische Phänomen der Hysterie. Sie besteht aus einer Serie von im Handsatz und in der Radierung gefertigten Drucken. Diese zitieren die ikonografischen Veröffentlichungen der Salpetrière, einer psychiatrischen Klinik in Paris, die von tiefgreifen- der Bedeutung für die Geschichtsschreibung der Hysterie sind. Die Drucke imaginieren und arrangieren Bild- und Textfragmente neu und versuchen eine ambivalentere und poetischere Geschichte zu erzählen. Gedruckt am Frans Masereel Centrum, Belgium.

These quote the iconographic publications of the Salpetrière, a psychiatric clinic in Paris, which are of profound importance for the historiography of hysteria.
